For someone who pays attention to ancient grammatical terms he will find that they reflect a conceptual charge at several sides; semantic, syntactic and pragmaticside, contrary to what is commonly known that the term has a pure syntactic charge; in other words, it reflects the different relationship that links the diverse elements of sentence at its abstract level. This article attempts to clarify these charges by reading the contents of different grammatical classification terms and benefits from the suggestions offered by the functional grammar theory.en_US
