The main objective of our work is the spatio-temporal study of the behavior and the distribution of desert aerosols in the synoptic scale in Algerian South. To understand the physical processes related to the movement of this phenomenon, statistical analyzes of a series of 20-year daily climate data from 1996 to 2015 recorded at 20 meteorological stations in the South of Algeria, namely: frequencies of occurrence Lithometeors, direction and speed of the wind and horizontal visibility. To compare the results obtained, we used the remote sensing technique in the window [10.5 - 12.5] μm of the thermal infrared channel, derived from the data of satellite Meteosat first generation, it is the Infrared Difference Dust Index "IDDI”. The results show that Spring is the most active season in sand phenomenon and the years 1997, 2002, 2004 and 2006 are the most dusty.en_US
