Abstract

This study aims at examining the level of social support with its two dimensions withing the sample women with breast cancer ; it also aims at finding whether there is a difference between members of the sample in the social support and in its two dimensions (emotional and informational)according to variables such as social status, educational level and the duration of the disease .A standard test of social support was administrated to a sample of the 110 women with breast cancer who were randomly chosen from Med Boudiaf Hospital of Ouargla. After a statistical study of the data: It was found that the level of social support was high among women suffering from breast cancer. There is no difference in the social and its two dimensions (emotional and informational) according to their social status. Furthermore, there is no difference in the informational support dimension.However there’s a difference in the emotional support according to educational level. It’s also concluded from the study, that there is no difference in the social support and emotional support dimensions. Meanwhile there is a difference in the informational support dimension according to the duration of the disease in favour of those who had suffered for a long period from breast cancer. These findings were discussed in the light of the pervious studies
