dc.description.abstractThe success of thehigh education depends on the preparation of the university withall its components, where the university professor is the most important component, because he is able to achieve the goals of the university by performing various tasks according to the requirements of his profession, which necessitates the availability of many professional competencies (knowledge, performance and emotional) in the university professor. The study aimed to determine the professional competencies possessed by the Algerian university professor among the total competencies required by his position from the point of view of his studentsin the areas of: cognitive, performance and emotional. Using the description approach, the data is collected through a questionnaire applied to (7763) male and female students from the universities of Algeria (Northeast, North-West and South). The results showed that the university professor relatively has both cognitive and performance competencies while he lacks the emotional competencies.en_US
