إن الإستراتيجية الأمنية الروسية تجاه دول البلقان مرتبطة بمواجهة الولايات المتحدة الأمريكية والحلف الشمال الأطلسي. وكلما تغلغلت روسيا في منطقة البلقان، كلما تحقق الأمن القومي الروسي لأن البلقان في، المنظور الروسي لا يزال يمرّ بتغييرات عميقة لم تنته بعد، وما مسألة كوسوفو ومشكلات البوسنة والهرسك وأحداث مقدونيا والهزات الكبرى التي تعيشها بلغاريا. ونتيجة لتضارب المصالح والنفوذ الجيوسياسي على رقعة الشطرنج الاوراسي بوجه عام والأوكرانية خصوصا، حيث تعد الأزمة الأوكرانية فتيل ساخن وملتهب في حرب تعيد إلى الأجواء ما يشبه الحرب الباردة بين قطبي الصراع العالمي الولايات المتحدة الأميركية والغرب من جهة وروسيا من جهة أخرى. إلى جانب عدم وضوح الرؤية بشكل حاسم في خيارات القيادات الصربية وتوجهاتها المستقبلية، إلا دليلاً علــــــــــــــــــــى أن البلقان يقع على الحدود ما بين أحداث مضت ولا تزال آثارها تتفاعل على الساحة، وبين سياسات حالية وأخرى تُصاغ للمستقبل. وهذا ما يجعل البلقان يمثل المنطقة الرئيسية التي تحظى باهتمام الكرملين كنقطة عبور ومدخل لاختراق آمن للمنطقة الأوروبية.
