Abstract: The aim of this article is to highlight aquaculture in the Algerian Sahara, as one of the main challenges that has come to consecrate the principles of sustainable development and contribute to food security at the local and national levels. Through this intervention we will try to answer the following questions: What is the reality of food security in Algeria? What are the components of aquaculture in the state of Ouargla and what technologies are used in this process? How does Aquaculture in Ouargla contribute to food security at the local and national levels? In order to answer these questions, we adopted the descriptive and analytical methods in addition to the case study methodology, through the study of many theoretical and applied studies on food security in Algeria and aquaculture in Algeria, and then we tried to study the case of some aquaculture vehicles in Ouargla state, Aquaculture in the state and its contribution to local and national food security.
