Abstract

On the basis of the literary theory of Assakaky, we try in this paper to exploit some theoretical and practical works of the early Arab linguistics in the aim to conceive a new and modern Arab theory of speech comprehension and interpretation. Our objective is to found the bases of a new methodological approach advocating the possibility of a crossing between the Arab Rhetoric and the pragmatic Speech analysis concepts; by having recourse to the theoretical study and the examination of the traditional Arab linguistic data about the binary Standard and Use, all that in the light of modern linguistic concepts of the pragmatic speech analysis.

Hence, in this survey we intend to tackle the following theoretical and methodological questions:

- Up to which extent can we adopt the proposals of Assakaki in the field of modern linguistics?

- For which reasons Assakaki has been the targets of so severe criticisms, mainly about his work Al MIFTAH?

What are the anticipated results of such study in the field of pragmatic speech analysis?.
