In the present paper, we attempt to unveil the language policy conducted by France in colonial Algeria through all its stages, at both the oretical and practical level: from a diagnostic study of language and social status of Algerian society, to a determination of perceptions and goals of language policy, as well as the means used to achieve it. Not forgetting to mention the implementation and ongoing valuation of this plan. Moreover, we will deal with the strategies used by educated classes of Algerian society, in order to confront this colonial policy, such as working to respond strongly to the cupidity of France as for the distortion of the elements of the nation. Here, we will refer to the Association of Algerian Muslim Scholars, which sought to expose France's plans, and to educate the population about the need to maintain their language, their religion and their heritage.en_US
