Gender Representation in Louisa May Alcott’s Little Women

Abstract

Louisa May Alcott novel’s little women, which is considered as one of best the American children literature novels. Dealt with deeper issues run behalf the American society during the 19th century those are presented in the novel such: (domestic life, meaning of the family and gender). The latter -Gender- was the focus of several researches and educators during the past years. Therefore, this study aims at exploring gender roles presented in the novel, and how Louisa changed the stereotypical image of gender through her characters, based on feminist theory as adopted perspective. Through the qualitative analysis as adopted method which paves the way for more inductive study to the novel, that shows departing from the stereotype traits in Jo characters and the implied themes in the novel.Le roman de Louisa May Alcott ‘les petites femmes’ ou ‘Les Quater Filles Du Dr. March’ qui est considérée comme une littérature Américaine pour les enfants, a traité des affaires profondes tournent autour de la société Américaine au 19eme siècle, elles étaient :( la vie domicile, la signification de la Famille, le genre). Et ce dernier - le Genre – a resté la préoccupation pour les étudiants et pour les chercheurs dans les dernières années, pour cela cette étude visait à présenter le rôle de genre dans cette histoire et comment Louisa a mis en évidence les changements du mode de conception de genre a travers les personnages du roman en se comptant sur la théorie féministe. A travers l'analyse qualitative comme méthode adoptée qui ouvre la voie à une étude plus inductive du roman, cela montre des écarts par rapport aux traits stéréotypés en caractères Jo et aux thèmes impliqués dans le roman. تناولت رواية لويزا ماي الكوت 'ليتل وومن' او'نساء صغيرات' و التي تعتبر من ادب الاطفال الأمريكي قضايا عميقة تدور حول المجتمع الامريكي في القرن التاسع عشر وتمثلت في (الحياة المنزلية ، معنى العائلة ، الجندر). هذا الاخير - الجندر- كان محط اهتمام العديد من الباحثين و الدارسين في السنوات الماضية. لهذا هدفت هذه الدراسة الى ابراز ادوار الجندر المتمثل في الرواية ، و كيف اظهرت لويزا التغييرات في التصوير النمطي للجندر من خلال شخصيات الرواية اعتمادا على النظرية النسوية . من خلال التحليل الكيفي بالطريقة المعتمدة التي تفتح الطريق إلى دراسة أكثر حداثة للرواية ، فإنها تظهر انحرافات عن السمات النمطية في شخصيات جو والموضوعات المرتبطة في الرواية.
