ملخص الدراسة: تعبر هذه الدراسة عن تحليل مضمون وثيقة الدليل الميداني لمكافحة التمرد الصادرة من الجيش الأمريكي، عن كيفية معالجتها للتمرد، وتعتقد الوثيقة بأن البيئة الأمنية للعالم بيئة تتميز بالفوضى والشك واللايقين وصعوبة العمل فيها. وقد انتهت الوثيقة الى استعمال الإدارة الامريكية أدوات غير عسكرية من أجل معالجة أسباب وجود التمرد والعمل على إنهاءه. واستعمال الأساليب المدنية والثقافية وبناء مؤسسات الدولة، والقضاء على المشاكل الاجتماعية والاقتصادية والسياسية والأمنية. مع الإبقاء على القوة العسكرية عند الضرورة من خلال قتل المتمردين والإرهابيين، والقضاء على البنية التحتية ومراكز الدعم التي يستندون عليها./
