Abstract: This articletreat the question of the consumption and the population in Algeria during the period 1980 -2015.The choice of the time interval is justified on the one side by the importance of this duration in particular in the socio-economic and political level which knew the country and on the other side by the availability of statistical data. In this article, first of all we are going to present the main lines of the consumption to the Algerian population according to the various theories which raised this subject while revealing its economic and\or not economicdeterminers. Secondly we are going to describe the evolution of the Algerian final consumption while detecting the main causes which supply the explanation as well as the analysis of its rhythm during a timewhich showed revolutionary events. Thirdly we shall discuss the structure and the profile of the household consumption in Algeria according to various criteria such as the sector of housing environment, the group of products, the type of housing, the status of activity, the size of the household ... by referring to the data of the national office of statistics particularly those of the national inquiries on consumer spending and standard of living of the households.
