The Leasing as a modern financing alternative for small and medium enterprises - Arab experiences

Abstract

Small and medium enterprises have a prominent role in driving the economy it is one of the engines of economic and social development, but it faces some difficulties that hinder its development the most important is the financing difficulties. We tried through this study To highlight the role and importance of leasing as a financing alternative contributes to supporting the growth and development of enterprises, especially SME, as a mechanism that allows enterprises to exploit equipment without having to own it, enabling them to overcome the difficulties they face such as complex procedures when applying for a bank loan and the difficulty of obtaining it for the required guarantees that SME do not have in most cases, because of technological developments, the technological age of the equipment has become short, and high technologies are generally expensive, the advantage of leasing is that it allows companies to obtain the required equipment at low cost. Lease mechanism proved in the Arab States and Algeria- despite its relatively recent emergence - its role as an effective alternative financing but it still suffers from some of the obstacles that hinder its development.
