Abstract: The symbol is an artistic phenomenon that have considered in poetry and story and this is one of new achievements which poets and authors, frequently used in expressing their experiences, thoughts and feelings, implicitly. Generally,code implies on meaning beyond the explicit form of the word however apparent meaningmust be considered as a goal.ThereforLebanese authors referring to code or symbol isnotbecause of it, or merely for expressing theirexperiences , imitation ,or proving their artistic powerjust for achieving to his purposes.sosymbol is close to author’s idea,orientations ,subjective and mental tendencies. Ali Hijazi is one of the most important Lebanese writers who illustrated his thoughts by symbols and codes.Therefor the main goal in this researchis that by a comprehensive approach find the symbols in four short story collections of this famous writer and by identify and explaining the allusions, mysteries and hintsget into transcend meaning of symbols in these. By examining the results of this project,can be argued thatnature of symbols and codes with different types of it have a significant part in these stories such as positive symbols like:olive tree, dove bird andalso historical characters like Bilal khadijeh and negative codes like: wolf, hyena and asp,etc. the author by use of these symbols show resistance against the Sahyonist’ autocracy and people returns of southern Lebanon to their ancient hometown andby showing a clear future improve his nation motivation.
