The role of public relations in forming the positive mental image of the security institution

Abstract

The nature of the work of the security institution does not usually have the acceptance and affection possessed by any other institution because the security man is the actual embodiment of power, which appears in front of individuals in the form of orders and prohibitions that limit their desires. Therefore, the security institution depends on the citizen's cooperation and understanding its performance of tasks in the best conditions. Since public relations is the responsible body for activating this cooperation and building mutual lines of communication and understanding between them, it was necessary to take advantage of this constructive role in establishing a positive image in the minds of citizens about the security institution and the security man as a means to achieve real cooperation that contributes to raising the level of security performance.

In this article, we attempt to deal with the bilateral relationship "security institution - citizen" and the problem of stereotypical and negative mental images, as well as the preponderant role that public relations can play in modifying , correcting and improving positive images, and convincing citizens that security and social stability are a task of solidarity shared by all stakeholders in society.
