Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to demonstrate the role of new media and interactive applications of internet, in facilitating the democratic participation of citizens in politics, and the transformation of citizen from a passive receiver to an active producer of media content. The citizen can interact and communicate, by using new media, with politicians, journalists, and other individuals. He can also express himself, without any censorship. this paper aims also to show the different types of sites and applications used by individuals, and its role in democratic participation.
