Abstract: The present study aims at identifying the role of preschool education in the development of some cognitive skills among students in the first year of primary school belonging to the town of Mostaganem. The sample of this study consisted of 355 pupils(186girls, 179boys) ;the study was conducted in 2017/2018. we use two types of tests to measure cognitive skills acquired. the results of the study indicates a significant way, the influence of preschool significant impact on the development of cognitive skills among children including pre-school (the ability to move in the area outside the installation of laterality, memorization) However, the variable "sex" does not seem to be influenced on special orientation and lateralization process. Finally, the final conclusions focused on some recommendations and proposals that we have found useful over the subject.
