Abstract: Water, a simple molecule, is essential for the survival of all kinds of life as well as for the populations’ development. Placing drinking water at peoples’ disposal is the authorities' permanent concern. The consumption and quality of drinking water needs special attention concerning the mineral balance; one of the most popular sources of water is water from commercial bottles. A significant proportion of the population of Ouargla consuming commercial bottled water and given the increased consumption of these products, it was necessary to discuss the quality and compliance with international and Algerian norms. The present work consists in carrying out surveys and highlighting the parameters which determine the quality of the water namely: pH, dry residues, essential elements (calcium, magnesium, potassium, sodium, sulphate, chlorine), indicators of pollution (nitrates, nitrites). Our study is based on a comparison of the parameters with the standards defined by the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Algerian standards (NA). The results showed that the norms studied comply with the mentioned norms; we summarize the fact that the water of the bottles studied is safe for human consumption.
