Abstract: The aim of this study is to address the effects of shale gas on Algeria under the requirements of sustainable development and energy diversification by using the descriptive and analytical method. The analyses showed the relative importance of traditional energy in Algeria and its environmental impact, and the orientation of manufacturers countries to detect the gas shale on their territories thanks to advanced technologies. This in turn has put Algeria in a difficult position as a result of the decline in global demand for natural gas and the decline in its exports. As a result, Algeria seeks to diversify and enhance its energy resources through the exploration of rock gas in the desert and to undertake economic, social and environmental development projects aimed at generating renewable energy.
