Abstract: | This study is part of a general problem of morphometric study, and the study of ectoparasites of one of the Claridae fish, it is the
fish cats of Lake IHRIR to the Willaya of Illizi "Clarias gariepinus". The results of the morphometric study show:
The non-existence of morphological differences between male and female C. gariepinus. As well as a majority allometry concerns
almost all the individuals of our fish (70.58%). They also reveal that there is sexual dimorphism in C. gariepinus of Ihrir Lake
The examination of the gills and the body of our fish allowed to harvest 64 parasites attached to 05 under class (Isopoda,
Polyopisthocotylea, Gyrodactylidea, Myxosporidea, Peritricha).
The observation of the anatomical and biological characteristics of the parasites collected allowed us to identify 05 species
distributed as follows: 1 species of the subclass Isopoda (Nerocila sp (54.6%); species of the subclass Polyopisthocotylea
(Atriasterheterodus Lebedev (4.6%) 1 species of the subclass Gyrodactylus (Gyrodactylus sp (1.5%), 1 species of the subclass
Myxosporidea (Myxosporidia sp (34.3%), and 1 species of the subclass Peritricha (Trichodina sp (4.6%).
The evaluation of the structural parameters of the parasite populations, shows that the highest species richness characterizes it
according to the sex, the weight, and the size of the host species.
Biodiversity estimation should be done in parallel with other studies of environmental conditions; because it is reported that
ectoparasites have a higher sensitivity than their hosts to certain pollutants (chemicals, pesticides), and artificially altered salt, T °
