The present study deals with the Quartzites reservoir of Hamra in the field of Hassi TARFA, which is a satellite field of the large field Hassi Messaoud. This reservoir is of significant petroleum interest despite the poor quality of porosity and permeability. This study identified the different origins of these poor petrophysical characteristics after petrophysical, petrographic and diagenetic studies. These origins are the low-energy deposit medium whose deposits are characterized by a very fine to fine grain size, a very poor classification and an abundance of the fine fraction clogging the low initial porosity; and the strong diagenesis that has undergone deposition reflected by the strong compaction shown by the predominance of the concavo-convex contacts and the secondary salting of filling and filling of the porous space. Added to this, the transformation of feldspars into illegic authigenic clay cement is very destructive of porosity. Finally, the porosity is of a matrix nature whereas the permeability is at the same time matrix and fissure, sometimes of fracturingen_US
