Abstract: The region of Ouargla is characterized by low rainfall, strong evaporation and continuous development of urban areas and human activities requiring the use of groundwater. The superficial aquifer is characterized by its proximity to the soil surface and by its lithology represented by sands and gravels, it was nevertheless exploited in agricultural and urban areas, its quality is degraded over time due to anthropogenic activities. .  The cartography of the intrinsic vulnerability of the Ouargla superficial aquifer, carried out by GOD and DRASTIC methods reveals a trend of vulnerability to pollution: • Medium to strong for the GOD method; the most dominant class is the strong class (77.4%) against 22.6% for the middle class. • Strong to very strong for the DRASTIC method; the most dominant class is the strong class (91.6%) against 8.4% for the very strong class.  The validity test showed that the GOD method is the most valid, where a high percentage of coincidence between nitrate map and the GOD vulnerability map is noted.
