The role of the Algerian family in the social care for the elderly

Abstract

This stutdy aims at shedding hight at the role of the Algerian family in the socail care for the elderly. The investigation was conducted in Batna (A starte in the Easterm of Algeria) inorder to know whether the elderly people nowadays, especualy in this region are satisfied with the care provided to then. In this study we adapt the descriptive method and collect data by neans of questionnaire submitted to 110 persons (as a sample) in which we have 52 male and 58 female. Their age is more than 60 years old using the purposive sampling.The obtained data from this study reveled that the largest elderly proportion was recssive between 60 and 70yearsold whereas the least percentage was given to those whose age is more than81years old.Also,the present study signifies that the illiteracy phenomenon is well spread among the informants thongh most of then are living with such civilized families which try to take care of their social welfare and their needs beside the repntation they diserve so as not to be neglected. In additition, the current study asserts that most of the intervienees confirmed that the family plays an important role in the elderly's life since it helps then orienting themselves especially in this period of old age. As a result we have found that most ofour informants feel satisfied with the social car provided by their families. Thus, we can say that the Algerain family is very heedful and feels interested especially when it comes to its elderly people.
