Abstract The areas of the Muslim majority in the southern Philippines have not known during the past five centuries political and social stability, due to the attempts to exterminate and ethnic cleansing they were subjected to by foreign colonialism and successive governments in the independent Republic of the Philippines, and it left hundreds of thousands of dead and wounded and millions displaced from both sides. With the Manila and Philippine Muslims both believing that a military solution will not deter any party from its demands, the two parties have for many decades negotiated rounds to reach a solution that ends the conflict and leads the region to peace and development And stability. The aim of this research is to introduce the Muslim ethnic group (the Moro) in the southern Philippines, the historical causes and roots of the political and national conflict in this region, the course of this conflict and its implications for the Moros.
