Abstract: In Colette’s writing, the Parisian women of La Belle Epoque e are synonymous with freedom and emancipation. A fervent follower of the feminist movement, the author is never tired of reproducing her ideas through her writing and heroines. Aunt Alicia, Mamita, Gigi, are all fighters, ladies with strong character who impose themselves in a society in the midst of a commotion as a consequence of the Industrial Revolution. But Colette does not just create imaginary characters to talk about Paris of La Belle Epoque; she is also interested in courtesans who made a sensation at the time, like Liane de Pougy. These female protagonists are characters built from facts and statements, some are present and active; others are absent or inactive but they all represent in their own way one of the morphological or moral aspects of the Parisian La Belle Epoque according to the vision of the author
