Etude des profils électrophorètiques pathologiques des protéines sériques dans la région de Ouargla

Abstract

Serum protein electrophoresis is a low-cost, easy-to-perform test of great clinical interest for monoclonal gammapathies, and multiple myeloma monitoring. Allows the orderly separation of six protein fractions: albumin, α1, α2, β1, β2, γ- globulins. Our main objective is to carry out a descriptive and retrospective analytical study of electrophoresis profiles in order to distinguish:  The most dominant pathological profiles in the Ouargla region.  The most affected age groups.  The dominant sex. Our descriptive and retrospective analytical study of electrophoresis profiles is carried out on 677 patients of different age categories of both sexes, in a period ranging from October 2018 to March 2020, collected from the ELAMEL medical analysis laboratory in Ouargla. From our results we have distinguished that the inflammatory syndrome is the dominant pathological syndrome in the region of Ouargla with a number of 242 cases or 36%. The average age of patients in the study series is 47 years, with extremes of one month and 98 years of age, while the most common age range varies between 31 and 45 years, or 23% of the study population. Our results indicate a female predominance (60%) compared to the male sex (40%). And finally EPS is a routine examination in medical biology allows the screening of pathological syndromes and mainly the diagnosis of monoclonal gammapathies. Our results for the Ouargla region indicated to: A female predominance. An average age of 47 (31-45 years). Inflammatory syndrome is the most common pathological syndrome
