Abstract: This study aimed to identify the most important factors of success and failure of startups in Algeria, in this study we use "survival" as a synonym for success, we conducted an empirical study on a sample of startups in the region of Ouargla by using the questionnaire to collect data, then we used Cox and Kaplan-Meier survival analysis models to analyze data for being the most appropriate for such studies. The results show that the survival of startups in Algeria are influenced by factors of the gender and the entourage of entrepreneur for the dimension of the entrepreneur profile, start-up financing and the geographical location for the dimension of the characteristics of the organization, and the business plan for the dimension of the preparation to creation
