Abstract: | This study focuses on the social skills of subjects with Down syndrome. More specifically, it is interested in the link between the theory of mind and the adaptive behaviors (CSA) of these subjects. To carry out the research, the sample consisted of 38 Down syndrome subjects including 12 children and 26 teenagers. Adaptative behavior was assessed through VABS (Vineland Adaptative Behavior Scale) . Meanwhile, theory of the mind was evaluated by two tests namely, the place change test and the Smarties test. The results highlight impaired spirit theory performance in Down syndrome 21. The latter have different skills depending on their Vineland score "average CSA vs. severe CSA". Also, the results were not the same if one takes into consideration the chronological age. Teens were the ones who got the best scores. |
