The impact of the Euro-Mediterranean partnership agreements on Maghreb countries’ economies

Abstract

The Maghreb countries which include Tunisia, Morocco and Algeria have signed bilateral partnership agreements with the European Union in the hope that this would allow them to achieve economic development. The importance of this article is that it analyzes the reality of this partnership, and highlights its most important implications for Maghreb countries. This article aims to clarify the way these partnerships have contributed to serve the interests of a powerful party such as the European Union at the expense of the Maghreb economy. The study has concluded that this partnership has worked towards emphasising the dependence of the Maghreb countries and establishing European dominance over their markets.عقدت كل من الدول المغاربية ( تونس و المغرب و الجزائر) اتفاقيات شراكة ثنائية مع الاتّحاد الأوروبي بهدف زيادة صادراتها و جلب الاستثمارات الأجنبية إليها وتحقيق التنمية الاقتصادية، لذا يسعى هذا المقال إلى توضيح انعكاسات هذه الاتفاقيات على اقتصاديات تلك الدول. وتتمثل أهمية هذا المقال في كونه يحلّل و يقيّم واقع هذه الشراكة، كما يهدف إلى توضيح الأسباب و الطريقة التي ساهمت بها اتفاقيات الشراكة في خدمة مصالح الطرف القوي ألا وهو الاتّحاد الأوروبي على حساب الاقتصاديات المغاربية، و من أهم النتائج التي تمّ التوصل إليها هي أنّ الشراكة كرّست تبعية الدول المغاربية ورسّخت الهيمنة الأوروبية على أسواقها، وبالتالي فهي دعوة لهذه الدول المغاربية كي تعيد النظر في بنود هذه الاتفاقيات على نحو يخدم مصالحها.
