Abstract: The study of factors associated with breastfeeding practice was estimated from a sample of 5716 mothers of 24-month-old children surveyed in the MICS6 multi-indicator cluster survey. Despite the recovery of the rate of exclusive breastfeeding in recent years, it has increased from 7% in 2006 to 28.27% in 2019 it remains low compared to the recommendations of the WHO and public health policy in Algeria. Among the mothers interviewed, 32.2% breastfeed within 30 minutes of delivery and 38.5% know the duration of exclusive breastfeeding until 6 months of age, and most of them give birth in a health facility. Educational attainment, residential environment and economic activity do not affect breastfeeding practice, but factors influencing breastfeeding based on multivariate analysis are prenatal care (p=0.08; OR=0.466) and the first early feeding within 30 minutes of delivery (p=0.00; OR=0.488)
