Abstract: This research paper examines the reality of the application of corporate governance in the Algerian business environment. In doing so, we analyzed the legal and supervisory frameworks that support and regulate the work of companies active in the Algerian business environment and the extent of their contribution to the establishment of general principles of corporate governance. Moreover, the research investigates the efficacy of these frameworks in improving the governance practices of companies by analyzing their performance in terms of the Economic Freedom Index, the Global Competitiveness Index and the Ease of Doing Business Index. The research concluded that Algeria's ranking is low for these indicators. This reality requires a reconsideration of the investment climate and a serious endeavor towards activating the mechanisms that consolidate and actually implement corporate governance, whether at the macro level in managing the economy or at the micro level in managing companies.
