Various biological activities are attributed to natural plant extracts containing a variety of phenolic compounds. The aim of the work is to evaluate the antimicrobial potency of polyphenolic and flavonoid extracts of the aerial part of Echium vulgare. For this, we carried out a phytochemical screening and an evaluation of the antimicrobial activity by the diffusion method in a solid medium. Pytochemical screening revealed a high content of total tannins, flavonoids, mucilags and saponosids. The results of the antimicrobial power show that the polyphenol extracts exert a strong activity on Candida albicans with a zone of inhibition of 41 mm. The E. coli and P. aeruginosa strains showed less sensitivity to polyphenols and flavonoids , with an inhibition diameter of between 23 and 16 mm, respectively. The other hand, K. pneumoniae was resistant. These results showed the importance of valuing the extracts of the aerial part of the Echium vulgare in the treatment of microbial infection.en_US
