The aim of this work is to estimate the effect of organic extracts from the roots of Buniumincrassatum on the plasma level of FSH, LH oestradiol and progesterone. This plant, called 'Talghouda' and widely distributed in eastern Algeria, is a species belonging to the Apiaceae family. The study was carried out on pubescent rabbits of the local breed (Oryctolagus cuniculus) for two weeks. The animals were divided into five groups which received, daily orally, the doses: 0, 25, 50, 100 and 200 mg/kg/day, respectively. The group with the dose 0 was taken as a control. After treatment, the rabbits were sacrificed and their ovaries were removed and fixed in 10% formalin, then stained with hematoxylin-eosin and, the blood was collected in heparin tubes. We have found that treatment with the organic extract Buniumincrassatum induces an increase in the relative weight of the ovary of the treated rabbits, compared to the control. The results of the histological study reveal a significant increase in the total number of follicles in rabbits treated with the doses 50 and 100 mg/kg/day and a significant decrease in the level of FSH, a statistically significant increase in the serum E2 level and LH. We conclude that the organic extract of Buniumincrassatum had estrogenic effects at doses of 50 and 100 mg/kg/dayen_US
