Abstract: Pergularia tomentosa has been traditionally eaten to prevent various diseases. In this study, the phytochemical composition, antimicrobial activity, antioxidant activities and various extracts prepared from the leaves of Pergularia tomentosa were evaluated. Butanolic extract had the highest concentrations of total phenols (33.91 ± 0.11 mg EAG / g DM), and total flavonoid content (52.57 ± 0.25 mg ER / g DM). However, the determination of condensed tannins revealed that the crude ethanolic extract gave the highest value (61.06 ± 0.22 mg EC / g DM). Similarly, the n-butanol extract showed the most effective DPPH and FRAP antioxidant cleansing activity (IC50 = 3.84 ± 0.04 mg / ml and IC50 = 96.99 ± 0.48 mg EAA / g extract, respectively). The study of biological activities showed that the extracts were active in vitro against three bacteria and one strain of fungi. It has demonstrated remarkable activity against Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli. Our results demonstrate the interest of leaf extracts of Pergularia tomentosa as a source of bioactive substances and its potential use as a preservative in foods.
