dc.descriptionThe issue of the nutritional status of children under five years of age has received great attention from international bodies and organizations. Because the nutritional status of children under five years of age is considered as a basic indicator of health and well-being in societies. Eating unbalanced and insufficient food leads to malnutrition, which has become a threat to human health, especially children under five years of age, as they represents the base of the population pyramid. The world today faces a double burden of malnutrition (undernourishment and overweight), especially low and middle income countries. Not only that, the prevalence of this phenomenon varies according to demographic, social and economic factors. This work aims to shed light on the most important sociodemographic determinants of this category, who suffer from malnutrition in Algeria based on the data of the MICS-6 Multiple Indicator cluster Survey 2019. Where had been discussed in detail the current situation in the world and the Arab world in general, and follow the development of this phenomenon in Algeria, And how much progress have you made in achieving the objectives of the World Health Assembly, and on the sociodemographic characteristics that control the spread of this phenomenon. Finally, we noticed that the problem of malnutrition among children in Algeria has improved and moved from high and medium levels to low levels. despite this, we find a great difference in the prevalence of this phenomenon according to different general characteristics, so that it spreads more among the very young age groups and among the children of their uneducated mothersen_US
