The economic development of a country cannot be based on the exploitation of a single type of energy source, as is the case for Algeria with fossil fuels. The purpose of this article is to empirically analyze the effects of renewable and non-renewable energies on economic growth in Algeria, for the period from 1990 to 2019, using an ARDL model. The results obtained show that there is a link between energy consumption and economic growth in Algeria, and indicate that the consumption of renewable energies is beginning to positively affect the economic factor of sustainable development and that the country is moving towards a diversification of these energy resources in the coming yearsen_US
