Since the advent of new technologies, language practices have not ceased to evolve in their form and mode of realization. We focus here on language practices on social networks. We are particularly interested in the contribu-tions and verbal exchanges of the students of the French stream of the Uni-versity of Biskra, on their Facebook page. While browsing this page, several questions are necessary. Does the informal use of French on the web free more young people's initiatives? Are the syntactical structures adopted in these virtual discussions still subject to the norms of the French language? oes the integration of icons and smileys not mark a return to iconographic writing, often devalued and denigrated?en_US
