Abstract: Since the first pluralistic presidential election in Cameroon in 1992, there has been growing controversy over the stormy debates and the quest for (de)legitimation between political leaders and supporters. And to that effect, the media in general and the printing press in particular play an important role in replaying this dissensus to the public. Thus, in the narrative of the political speech, and in view of the discursive characteristics displayed in the newspapers during the presidential election of 2004, 2011 and 2018, it is obvious that this controversy is the result of a double construction, in particular, a journalistic staging and a real confrontation between the political actors when certain editorial genres areused. In this article, we plan to analyse the semiotic materiality of texting the polemic and the methods of event designation in two daily presses (public and private) notably Cameroon Tribuneand Le Messager
