In our work, we used the local clay of blidet Omar to study the possibility of eliminating cadmium ions from water by adsorption phenomena, while following the effect of change of the factors affecting adsorption capacity. At first, work was carried out to purify the clay and determine its physico-chemical properties. It was found that clay represents 52% of the soil sample. Its properties were found to be 65.5% illite, 21.8% kaolinite, 12.7% quartz and a specific surface area of 113.762m²/g and the cation exchange capacity of the clay sample is equal to 20mEq/ 100ml. The results of treating the solutions with clay showed its effective ability to remove cadmium ions with a yield of 93.72%. Stirring speed, adsorbent mass, and contact time had an effect on adsorption capacity.en_US
