Dromedaries play a significant socio-economic role in arid and semi-arid regions, particularly in North Africa, where their adaptation to extreme climatic conditions makes them a species of veterinary and public health interest. This research is part of an exploratory study aimed at contributing to the understanding of bacterial flora present in dromedary urine. The main objective of this study is to isolate and pre-identify the most prevalent bacteria in dromedary urine to better understand their microbiological profile. To achieve this, sterile urine samples were collected from seven dromedaries of different ages and sexes (three females and four 66 males) between March and April 2025 in Southeastern Algeria, Wilaya of Ouargla, from clinically healthy animals. Bacteriological analyses were conducted following standard protocols, including culture, inoculation, isolation, and biochemical pre-identification using conventional tests. Bacteriological analysis revealed the presence of Salmonella sp., Staphylococcus aureus, Pseudomonas sp., and other bacterial species in most male dromedary urine samples. However, female urine samples showed a complete absence of these bacteria, with a slight presence of other bacterial species that could not be precisely identified using the applied tests. These findings suggest that, even in the absence of clinical symptoms, dromedary urine may harbor potentially pathogenic bacteria. | en_US |
