The Effect of Wearable Technologies on EFL Learning Outcomes

Abstract

As education continues to evolve in the 21st century, The integration of wearable technologies has become increasingly important particularly in the context of teaching English as a Foreign Language (EFL). This dissertation explores the potential of wearable technologies to enhance the learning results for EFL students. The study focuses on first-years Master’s students at the English Department in the University of Kasdi Merbah-Ouargla during the academic year 2024-2025. The primary objective is to assess how wearable technologies can support EFL students and contribute to improve their English level. In order to examine the impact of using wearable technologies on EFL students’ learning outcomes, The results analysis revealed a strong correlation between learners’ English level and using wearable technologies. In addition, they indicate that wearable technologies positively influence EFL learners’ motivation as long as they are used in the appropriate context.

À mesure que l’éducation continue d’évoluer au XX le siècle, l’intégration des technologies portables devient de plus en plus importante, notamment dans le contexte de l’enseignement de l’anglais comme langue étrangère (EFL). Ce mémoire explore le potentiel des technologies portables pour améliorer les résultats d’apprentissage des étudiants de première année de Master du département d’anglais de l’université Kadi Merbah de Ouargla. L’objectif principal est d’évaluer comment les technologies peuvent soutenir les étudiants EFL et contribuer à améliorer leur niveau d’anglais. Afin d’examiner l’impact de l’utilisation de ces technologies sur les résultats d’apprenants et l’usage des technologies portables. Les résultats indiquent que ces technologies influencent positivement la motivation des apprenants EFL, à condition qu’elles soient utilisées dans un contexte approprie.

مع استمرار تطور التعليم في القرن الحادي و العشرين، اصبحت تقنيات التكنولوجيا القابلة للارتداء ذات اهمية متزايدة، لاسيما في سياق تعليم اللغة الانجليزية كلغة اجنبية. تهدف هذه الاطروحة الى استكشاف امكانيات هذه التقنيات في تعزيز نتائج التعلم لدى طلاب اللغة الانجليزية كلغة اجنبية. تركز الدراسة على طلاب سنة اولى ماستر بقسم اللغة الانجليزية في جامعة قاصدي مرباح ورقلة. الهدف الرئيسي هو تقييم كيفية مساهمة التقنيات القابلة للارتداء في دعم الطلاب وتحسين مستواهم في اللغة الانجليزية. ومن اجل تحقيق الهدف السابق ذكره تم تطبيق دراسة كمية التي كشفت عن وجود علاقة قوية بين مستوى اللغة الانجليزية لدى الطلبة واستخدام هذه الاجهزة. و تشير النتائج ايضا الى ان التقنيات القابلة للارتداء تؤثر بشكل ايجابي طالما انها تستخدم في السياق المنشود.
