| dc.description.abstract | This thesis addresses the automation of the foam-based fire suppression system in the oil storage tanks of the Bir Seba oil field. Fires pose a major danger to personnel, facilities, and the environment, hence the need for effective protection systems. The conventional system relies on fire and gas detectors, deluge valves, and sprinkler systems. AFFF foam is the most suitable solution for extinguishing hydrocarbon fires by isolating oxygen and cooling the affected area. The proposed solution utilizes the ProSafe-RS safety PLC to enhance the speed and reliability of the response. This solution integrates detection, logic processing, and actuation in a fully automatic and reliable manner. Thus, automation improves industrial safety standards and reduces human and environmental risks | en_US |
