| dc.description.abstract | This study aims to evaluate the frequency of multidrug-resistant bacteria (MDRB) and to explore the use of Streptococcus spp. isolated from camel semen for the extracellular biosynthesis of silver chloride nanoparticles (AgClNPs), while assessing their biological activities and toxicity. According to the results, in 2023, 43 MDRB were isolated and identified, emanating mostly from the intensive care unit service and pus samples at the Ouargla public hospital, with women being more affected than men. The AgClNPs exhibit an absorptio peak at 369 nm in the UV-Vis, a cubic structure, a crystallinity of 43.49%, and a crystallite size of 17.94 nm. Scanning electron microscopy coupled with X-ray energy dispersive spectroscopy (SEM-EDX) confirms a spherical structure and a particle size of 5.29 nm, thus validating the elemental composition of chlorine (Cl) and silver (Ag). The AgClNPs are effective against MDR, with MIC and MBC values ranging between 7.81 and 125 µg/mL. Additionally, molecular docking demonstrated that the optimal predicted binding energies were –2.12 kcal/mol for P. aeruginosa. Furthermore, they inhibit DPPH and ABTS radicals and possess significant antioxidant activity. In vitro viability tests showed an LC₅₀ of 0.520 mg/mL, while in vivo tests revealed moderate aquatic toxicity, and in silico, analysis highlighted a class III toxicity with an LD₅₀ of 276 mg/kg. The study reveals the prevalence of MDRB in hospitals, allowing for the optimization of antibiotic use and preventive measures. It also highlights the potential of Streptococcus spp. in the biosynthesis of AgClNPs, showcasing its innovative, economical, sustainable, and ecological alternative. Biological activities also demonstrate their potential as antibacterial agents against MDRB, thus promoting the rapid development of nanomaterials in nanomedicine and pharmaceuticals. | en_US |
