Abstract

It was the Algerian economy in the second half of the eighties to an economic crisis after the free fall of oil prices, and has appeared so many imbalances as a result of the state's reliance on a single element in the export, dropped development activity and reduced state revenues, and I knew that unemployment levels are high and failed most of the public institutions in the creation of positions new work because of worsening problems, it became necessary to the authorities concerned to reconsider in the pattern of governance and policies in the past and therefore hastened to carry out economic reforms, was forced to change the style of the conduct of economic institutions to cope with the new data supported the market economy, and entered it in Algeria programs of structural reforms with the International Monetary Fund. These economic reforms have led to major turmoil in the general map to fill in Algeria, contributed to the worsening unemployment, especially during the nineties, which forced public institutions of economic to carry out the demobilization of a collective of workers, (the demobilization of more than 500.000 workers and the closure of more than 1.000 public institution between /1998 -1994/ but the interesting thing about the attention that unemployment in Algeria registered a drop of significant transition and unique of its kind, After it was close to 30% in the late nineties it is now is about 9,9% according to estimates by the International Monetary Fund FMI, something that makes us wonder about the role of employment policy to tackle unemployment in Algeria, especially in the beginning of the third millennium?
