Abstract: The Meskat system is the most common technique adopted since antiquity for irrigation of olive cultivation, the most widespread speculation in the Sahel of Tunisian. The evaluation of ecophysiological compartment of olive trees planted in mankâas according to the humidity of the soil was performed by monitoring the following ecophysiological parameters: stomatic conductance, relative water content in leaves and foliar hydric potential. In this context, an experimental device has been retained in the region of Kroussia (Governorate of Sousse). This device consists of three bands; each one consists of four compartments, each one occupied by two olive variety "chemlali". The hydric state of the soil was assessed by measuring of humidity. The results have demonstrated the positive impact of Meskat system on all indicators considered. Indeed, stomatic conductance increased as the water gradient of 50%. A highly significant variation occurred during follow-up of leaf water potential also in the water status mankâas resulting in an increase of 30% for an increase of 8% humidity of the soil. The effect of humidity in themankâason ecophysiology of the olive was also evidenced by a 45% improvement in the relative water content. Water stress in soil bins away from the catchment has led to dramatic declines in the various ecophysiological parameters studied.
