The aim of this paper entitled : Reflections of Reform in Modern Algerian Poetry is to shed light on the Algerian conservative, conventional (traditional) poetry whose pioneers suffered agonies to carry the burden of reform, enlightenment and guidance at a time of horrid Frensh subjugation, i.e the early twenties when reformist attitudes and tendencies started to gain foothold and obtain more verve than before. Thus, the intellectual conflict between a nationalistic reformist ideology based on Arabisation, and Islam on the one hand and colonialism and the ideologies advocating it on the other, was well underway.en_US
