Abstract

According to Halliday and R.Hassan, the text is a semantic unit and it is not defined by its size. Cohesion types are a necessary tool to create a text, but it is not sufficient. For this reason Halliday & R.Hassan address the contextual features, related to the field, the mode and the tenor, that contribute in defining the text.
