The Algerian palm plantation has always been playing a dominating part at the socio-economic and ecological planes. It is thus of unquestionable interest for the development of the Saharan areas, through a rational exploitation of the water resources and soil necessary for date culture. But in spite of these assets, the Algerian date production patrimony remains prone to various constraints which block its development and its valorization. For that, it is necessary to set up a program of rehabilitation and development of the palm plantation, through the implementation of concrete actions, and to enable him to play fully its part in the framework of Saharan agronomy in particular and the development of the Saharan areas in general.en_US
