Abstract: This study was carried out to identifying contamination sources of garden produce by Trace Metals (TM) in the city of Niamey. This identification has affected not only the production sites but also the circuit of marketing. Thus, at production sites, the results of investigation reveal five sources of contamination for market garden produce as irrigation water, the location of the site in relation to a source of pollution, fertilizers, herbicides, and atmospheric deposition. The study also reported that vegetables produced locally or imported more can be contaminated during transport or during the sale on the market. Finally, despite their adverse effects on human health, this study shows that the Trace Metals are unfamiliar to the general population. Health centers do not have adequate tools to determine the TM in biological matrices such as blood and urine of patients. This therefore puts the population at risk of Niamey metal poisoning without knowing it.
