LA FOGGARA

Abstract

The central Sahara of Algeria illuminate that the genius of man, that has made with the conditions it faces, showed a revealing ingenious practices in operating, managing and sharing water. Knowledge and mastery are the rule with striking illustrations remains today and thanks to the foggara, unprecedented system for collecting and sharing water. That's where this study came to highlight the reality of agriculture, moreover, related to the mobilization of water and controls its use. It seeks to avoid waste, maximize the return on and to consider the alleged exploitation of vulnerable areas. Foggara system is condemned to disappear? Is it not the prelude to extinction of a civilization that has marked the history of an area hyper arid? This does not compromise it in the future, even the very existence of oasis areas experienced in everyday life? Would it not be possible otherwise to beg for answers in the past, at a time when the development of the living world has different requirements both quantitatively and qualitatively with regard to water?
