Abstract

Water management is crucial for survival, stability, development and sustainable health and welfare of all people around the world. These resources are consistently under an increasing pressure and competition, and many people are desperate to get enough water to meet their basic needs. Water resources development is still the subject of debate in meetings and scientific conferences among economists, policymakers, public institutions and various actors interested in this very resource. Hence, it does not represent the concern of public authorities only (government and its organs), but it requires an integrated approach involving all parties, especially on the local level. Development and conservation of water, that is a shared natural and scarce resource, is a major challenge for countries that needs specific models of water management governance to ensure its sustainability.
